Learning Objectives

Following completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Attendees will understand what is an exoskeleton, which types are available and indicated uses for the device.

  • Attendees will see technology applied to challenging patients in the OP setting, including outcome review and review of clinical decision making when choosing the device.

  • Attendees will be able to verbalize clinical decision making when choosing to use an exoskeleton.

  • Attendees will understand success factors to integrate complex rehab technology into patient care in the outpatient setting.

Christina Smith

Physical Therapist- Manager

Christina Smith PT, DPT, Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist, has worked with Sheltering Arms and Sheltering Arms Institute since 2016. She specializes in neurological disorders including stroke, spinal cord injury and Parkinson’s disease. Christina is a level 2 Ekso certified clinician and holds Ekso Indego Trainer Clinic and Trainer Personal certifications. She currently participates as a mentor for the VCU/SAI Neurologic Clinical Specialist Residency program and is a manager of therapy services for the SAI Bon Air Center. Christina attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.

Course Requirements

This online course is designed for allied health professionals (e.g., OT/OTA, PT/PTA, SLP, etc.). To participate in this course and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed clinician, complete the content of the course in its entirety, score ≥80% on the post-course assessment, and complete the course evaluation. Completion of this course will reward the participant with 0.70 contact hour(s)

 *Sheltering Arms Institute is designated to provide certified CEU’s to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language pathology clinicians licensed in the state of Virginia. Attendees of different disciplines or licensed in other states should verify with their licensing body if credit can be utilized toward regulatory requirements.
